Humpin' around the Xmas Tree: Schmader delivers a sack of "Showgirls"
[info]thespellout
Playwright/sometime Stranger contributor David Schmader is to Paul Verhoeven's 1995 Vegas-core epic "Showgirls" as Sean Astin is to his One-Eyed Willie.

My needs are better than yours.

I need to get a coffee mug. The kind that can easily be cupped in the hand in order to warm the hand, as well as have a handle in case the mug is too hot.
I need to pour some good rum into it.
Then I need to pour in some warmed up eggnog. "
Then sprinkle some Vietnamese cinnamon on top.
And, then, I need to drink it.

Merry Christmas!

i had to freak out this morning about this shooting pain in my jaw and stress and nonstop work + holidays. then in bitching to a friend i realized, this years holiday suicide threat contingent is down 10000% from last year, when i was up to no less than 4 different people i was trying to talk down out of the proverbial bell tower. so yay, its a christmas miracle!

Since I'm neither, I think I have a shot!

Focus for the "aught" 10:
Photography (training and running the marathon took away from that and I need to get back to it)
2 marathons
Lasik

Considering:
An international trip (Europe or the Holy Land)
New laptop (I'm leaning towards the Mac because my crap Dell is well...crapping out on me)
1 domestic road trip at least 900 miles
buying motorcycle (this is more wishful thinking but anything goes!)

Happy Holidays to my LJ peeps! Love you and see you in the new year!

umm...

We've had three police shootings/killings in Seattle (and greater metropolitan area) in the past two months, the latest two days ago. It's pretty damned appalling and more than a little sickening to think on it. Then to read stuff like this:

When our latest cop-shooter, David Crable, showed that he was suicidal, violent and abusing alcohol, the courts in October cracked down on his use of a dangerous piece of machinery.

His car.

But not his guns.

"I am afraid to be in my own home with him because of the many guns he owns," his mother told the court in May.

"He carried a gun on himself at all times," said his Eatonville neighbor, Bobby Brown, Tuesday morning after Crable allegedly ambushed two Pierce County deputies, firing an estimated 10 shots from a few feet away.

Yeah.

To quote Eddie Izzard: "Guns don't kill people... but they do help!"

Hooray Christmas... I guess.

Christmas shopping - check!
House cleaned and spotless - check!
Grocery shopping - check! - well, mostly check on that one, I have to stop at Walmart on my way home from work today for one thing. Jeeeez that place is gonna be a zoo.

I work today, work tomorrow, have to deal with Ginger tomorrow night, have the entire family coming over for Christmas day, and then work again on Saturday morning at 7:45. Who the hell gets their hair cut at 8am on the Saturday morning after Christmas?! I dunno. I'm glad the family is coming here for Christmas, but at the same time it's depressing. I miss my grandma. I miss her house and I miss the smells and I miss Christmas morning and keeping all the kids in the kitchen so the grownups could make sure all the presents were arranged just right. But mostly I miss her. Too much, sometimes. I just wish I could feel better about that, move on. I don't want to forget her, no, but I wish it was easier :(

My new years plans have also changed this year. Since John got home, his house was usually the plan so we could burn Christmas trees in the backyard, but he and Lisa went off to Michigan for the holidays :( So, we're having new years at my house, way out here in the boonies. No burning trees, but it should be a good time nonetheless. We'll see, I guess.

Things have been.... hm... interesting to say the very least in my little world. Drama piled on top of work piled on top of all kinds of other good stuff, and it bottles up until I feel like I'm going to explode! But what can ya do?

The rain and cold last night made my shoulder ache. I wonder if I have time to eat something before work so I can take some naproxen? Hm. I'll work something out I imagine. Well, I'm headed back into my little cave now! Nice seeing you all again, and I'll be back around to update sooner or later.

Today I worked and I work tomorrow.
Tonight I went see a man about a bluebird tattoo (Johnny). And when we got home we lit three coils and sat on the back step watching the bats fly over.
Hey! I got a LJ present! My heart sang because it means someone in Canada still thinks about me.

Take it easy baby.

happy christmas, everyone!

Have a look at Gary and Viv's festive sheep over at the Fleece Station!

Hopefully you will be seeing a lot more of these sheep in the new year. (Lettuce and the bunnies send a big cheery hello, but Vern is off somewhere stressing about Christmas prezzies, silly sheep. AND he missed the postal deadline, so he apologises if hardly anyone got cards this year.)

Morris the Mankiest Monster has forgotten about Christmas entirely, he's been too busy sorting out his bogey collection. But if you surprise him with a box of ear wax, gift-wrapped in dirty socks, he will be your best friend forever.

These post every night at midnight, so this is everything that happened yesterday, in 140 words or less a pop.

  • 19:27 I has a fire! And my eyebrows still, which is even more impressive. #
  • 23:17 It would be bad to sleep out here on the couch with the Christmas tree lit and the fire going, right? I hate to put them out. Boo. #
